Program Sustainability and Stability: Looking Beyond Federal Funding VISION • When describing your programs or activities, demonstrate how the Project Vision relates to the agency’s Mission Statement. • Clearly describe the value of the Project, letting funders know why it is being created and what changes will happen because it is there. • Consumers/Participants should be able to understand how the project will work in their best interest.

Efforts should be made to utilize information gained from the needs assessment process to strengthen all programmatic functioning. • Do more than just listen to input from your consumers, implement their suggestions and feedback whenever possible. • Be sure to provide staff development and training to increase program solvency. • Translate community & consumer interactions into a successful programming strategy.

Program Sustainability and Stability: Looking Beyond Federal Funding Office of Minority Health Resource Center • The Office of Minority Health Resource Center (OMHRC) was established in 1987 by the new Office of Minority Health in HHS. • Responded to recommendations of the Report of the Secretary’s Task Force on Black and Minority Health (the Heckler Report, 1985-86). • First authorized by statute in 1990, recently reauthorized along with the OMH by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 (42 USC 300u-6).
