Task Group on Mechanical Behavior of Cement 12th of June, 2012 Westminster, CO
AGENDA • Members • Charge • Approach • Winter Minutes • Status of Working Document • Next Steps
CHARGE Develop a technical report on the characterization of mechanical behavior of cement and test methods to measure the mechanical parameters of cement in the laboratory. This TR is intended to serve as the basis of an ISO NWI.
Approach • Combined current methods used in industry • Created working document • Use cooperative testing to refine document • Identify variances • Set testing protocols • Apply limits when necessary • Answer questions
Winter Minutes A presentation was reviewed that included: • A summary of the results obtained in the first coop testing effort • A large portion of the data has been collected for the second coop testing effort with the following notes: • 7 labs have reported results • Various load and displacement rates documented • Different sample sizes used • Various load frames and instrumentation used The next step is to combine the coop testing results and include them in an appendix within the working TR. This will be shared with TG along with recommendations for the document.
Summary of 2nd Round Robin • 7 labs reported • Several Parameters Investigated • Load Frame and Instrumentation • Displacement and Load Rates • Splitting Sample Size • Cyclic Loads • Analysis Technique
Status of Working Document • Appendix added containing round robin #2 results. • Minor corrections made
Next Steps • Add Round #1 Results • Use results to refine sections as necessary • Mixing • Instrumentation • Load/Displacement Rate • L/D ratio • Etc. • Determine if there is suitable supporting test data to have a reproducible procedure • Finalize Document
