Trauma Plastic Surgery Injuries to the face, by their very nature, impart a high degree of emotional, as well as physical trauma to patients. There are a number of possible causes of facialtrauma. Facial trauma, also called maxillofacial trauma, is any physical trauma to the face. Facial trauma can involve soft tissue injuries such as burns, lacerations and bruises, or fractures of the facial bones which involves symptoms like pain, swelling, loss of function, or changes in the shape of facial structures. Types of facial injuries can range from injuries of teeth to extremely severe injuries of the skin and bones of the face.
