Facial trauma, also called maxillofacial trauma, is any physical trauma to the face. Facial trauma can involve soft tissue injuries such as burns, lacerations and bruises, or fractures of the facial bones which involves symptoms like pain, swelling, loss of function, or changes in the shape of facial structures. Types of facial injuries can range from injuries of teeth to extremely severe injuries of the skin and bones of the face. Fractures of bone of the face are treated by open reduction and internal fixation with help of mini plates. This depends on your specific injury, how bad it is, and whether you have any other problems at the time. Our goal will be to put the bones back into their natural position.
