OUR GOALS FOR THE YEAR: French I • Increase vocabulary about: Greetings, likes and dislikes, school schedule, café foods, leisure activities, family, clothing and shopping • Add to grammar: Learn the present tense, subject/verb agreement, adjectives, commands, begin the past tense
OUR GOALS FOR THE YEAR: French II • Add to vocabulary about: School & free time, health, daily routines, shopping, household chores, special events, travel and food • Add to grammar: Review present tense and imperative, as well as other grammatical lessons from French 1 Learn reflexive verbs, 2 past tenses, direct/indirect object pronouns, negation, asking questions, etc.
OUR GOALS FOR THE YEARFrench III • Add to vocabulary about: • Travel, art, health, teenage life, plans for the future, professions, the community, nature, the environment, politics, and the history of France • Add to grammar: • Review present and past tenses • Future/conditional tenses • Subjunctive (present/past) mood
OUR GOALS FOR THE YEAR: French IV Prepare students to go on to AP by increasing their fluency ability through vocabulary and grammar. • Increase vocabulary about:personal relationships, city living, media, law & politics, societal issues, family life, science & technology, beauty & aesthetics, work & finances, nature & environment • Add to Grammar: • Review grammar from French 1-3 • Learn the pluperfect, the subjunctive, the past subjunctive, the conditional perfect, the simple (literary) past • Other grammatical structures such as direct/indirect object pronouns
OUR GOALS FOR THE YEAR: French AP • Incorporate thematic vocabulary about: Global Challenges, Science & Technology, Contemporary Life, Personal Public Identities, Families & Communities, Beauty & Aesthetics • Review grammar: • Review all tenses and grammar learned in French I – IV • Fine tune language structure for accuracy and fluency • Increase an appreciation for, and understanding of, French and francophone cultures through literature, current events, etc. • Increase listening and reading comprehension • Improve writing and speaking skills • Do well on the AP Exam!
Diplomas: • Basic Diploma – • - no foreign language requirement • Standard Diploma • - 2 Years of a foreign language • Advanced Diploma • - 2 years of 2 different languages • or • - 3 years of 1 language
