What can you study? Discipline • Purpose question can be based on bio, chem, physics, or any combination of the 3 Tools available • Vernier probes: flow rate, pH, oxygen, turbidity, light • Other stuff:timers, measuring tapes, manual balances, sample bottles, pH strips, meter squares, spot plates, string, thermometers, magnifying glasses • Have other ideas? Groups • Ideal group has • 4 students • 1 from each discipline: Bio/Chem/Physics • Have >1 IB Science? You can choose which discipline to represent • Acceptable group has • 3 students • Representing 2 disciplines Sign your group up at the front And come up with a Group Name
What to start before Friday… • Make a plan for your investigation • Purpose question • General procedure • Materials needed • Gather materials in a tray/bag designated for your group only on Tuesday morning • Decide how you will get this done in the time allotted • Divide and conquer • Determine group roles On Friday: • Bring warm clothes, rain gear, dry change of clothes, and a lunch • Poster paper and markers will be available when we get back to school
