SedSpec Introduction • SedSpec (a WWW-based tool) provides the necessarycalculations to provide approximate sizes and costs of hydrologic and erosion control structures • Channels (grassed, open, riprap, concrete) • Culverts • Sediment basins • Terraces • Runoff diversions • Storm water detention basins
SedSpec Introduction • SedSpec utilizes TR 55 or the Rational Method to compute peak rates of runoff. • Database holds rainfall depths • User provides data in a web form
SedSpec BMP Introduction • Provides information about construction and maintenance • Experience reports
Rational Method • Estimates peak rate of runoff • Simple, widely used • Requires land use, soil, flow length, slope
