  3. Welcome to English 10 Mrs. Ramirez

  4. The English 10 Curriculum • Reading • Writing • Listening • Speaking

  5. Grading • 1/3 Tests & Quizzes • 1/3 Homework & class work • 1/3 Bell Ringers

  6. Grading • Late work penalized 10% per day • Illegible work cannot be graded

  7. Grading Test scores, quizzes, participation, bell ringers, class work activities, essays, projects, presentations, and homework all contribute to your grade. Grades are weighted so that neglecting daily class work or bell ringers can be a serious risk of failing the class. On the other hand, your willingness to work on these is a great boost to your grade!

  8. Attendance Much of what we do in English 10 is project based and group oriented & is difficult to make up on your own. Also, be aware of the state & school attendance policies that stipulate if a student misses more than 18 days in this class, s/he will not receive credit.

  9. Make-up Work When a student is absent, it is his/her responsibility to check online lesson plans and make up any work missed. Any tests must be made up the day the student returns to school. Other work should be handed in within 4 days (in accordance with how many days were missed). If a student is absent on the day an assignment is due, he/she must hand it in on the day she/he returns. The 4-day time period may be extended by arrangementand with approval of the teacher for students with medical excuses for prolonged illnesses. Students should not expect to be able to make up work missed for excessive unexcused absences.

  10. Make-up work: www.MissGsChalkdust. weebly.com Students are responsible for checking and doing their make-up work. Lesson plans are available in the room and online. Students who do not make up work missed when absent must realize that a grade of )% F must be issued because no credit was earned for the assignment.

  11. Together Everyone Achieves More

  12. Sign-out Policy Each student may have up to 2 trips out of the room each grading period. These are to be used only when absolutely necessary & at times when it is not distracting (i.e. first & last 5 minutes). Exceptions may be made for medical need based on a doctor’s statement. Not using these trips out of the room may be rewarded with bonus points at the end of the grading period!
