  2. Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease Atherosclerosis is the buildup of fats, cholesterol and other substances in and on the artery walls. This buildup is called plaque. The plaque can cause arteries to narrow, blocking blood flow. The plaque can also burst, leading to a blood clot. Although atherosclerosis is often considered a heart problem, it can affect arteries anywhere in the body. Atherosclerosis can be treated. Healthy lifestyle habits can help prevent atherosclerosis. Atherosclerosis symptoms usually don't happen until an artery is so narrowed or clogged that it can't supply enough blood to organs and tissues. Sometimes a blood clot completely blocks blood flow. The clot may break apart and can trigger a heart attack or stroke.

  3. Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease • Atherosclerosis often has no symptoms until a plaque ruptures or the buildup is severe enough to block blood flow. But some symptoms can be: • Arrhythmia, an unusual heartbeat • Pain or pressure in your upper body, including your chest, arms, neck, or jaw. This is known as angina. • Shortness of breath

  4. Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease You may participate in this study if you are: • Male or female and ≥18 years of age • Have a history of ASCVD • Are willing and able to give written informed consent before initiation of any study-related procedures and willing to comply with all required study procedures
