Introduction of USTH Milestones 12/11/2009 9/12/2009 Decision No. 2067/QĐ-TTg of Prime Minister on the establishment of the University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (USTH) Inter-governmental agreement signed between the Governments of Vietnam and France on the establishment and development of USTH 02/11/2018 18/3/2016 4/2016 and 3/2017 Decision No. 430/QĐ-TTg of Prime Minister transferring USTH from MOET to VAST The Bachelor and Master training programs were evaluated and accredited by HCERES • Inter-governmental agreement signed between the Governments of Vietnam and France on the development of USTH (period of 2018-2023) The largest cooperation project in education of France in foreign countries The only university in Viet Nam receiving the support of 34 French universities and research institutions of the USTH Consortium

Introduction of USTH Missions To train the high quality human resource in science and technology, supporting the socio-economic development of Viet Nam To conduct scientific and technological research in a close connection with enterprises; to disseminate the research results and to carry out technology transfer

Introduction of USTH Resources Financial resources Human resources Facilities • 109 staff: 54 lecturers/researchers and 55 administrative staff • Close to 100% Vietnamese lecturers with Doctoral Degree • French experts: involved in the management at both department and university level + in training and research activities • State budget • Tuition fee • Financial support from French government • Financial support from ADB funded project • A21 building - 8000 m2 (classrooms, offices, labs…) • USTH 65 ha - Campus in Hoa Lac High Tech Park (from 2023)

Introduction of USTH Achievements • TRAINING • 404 Bachelor Degree Graduates, 323 Master Degree Graduates, 3 PhD Degree Graduates and 50 Doctors graduated from 911 Program • Number of students in 2018/2019 • * Bachelor: 323 • * Master: 123 (double diploma: French + Vietnamese) • (undergraduate student number: +66%) +  20-30 French students per year • 15 degree programs; linkages with companies especially in Aeronautical Engineering (Airbus, Vietnam Airlines, VAECO...) • B0 training program from 2018 to improve students English skills • Accreditation of Bachelor and Master training programs by HCERES • 6 practical laboratories (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, ICT, Aeronautics, Environment) • PLMCC credit-based training programs (USTH and DassaultSystèmes)

Introduction of USTH Achievements • RESEARCH • 5 International Joint Vietnamese-French laboratories • 196 International publications: 106 SCI, 61 SCIE, 6 Scopus and 23 others • 43 national publications: 22 VAST, 21 others • Ranked 7th in the Nature Index – Vietnamese universities and research institutions ranking in 2017 and 2018 • Now: 8 Nafosted projects, 6 VAST projects, 11 GUST post-doc projects, 35 USTH projects and international co-operation projects • 3. INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION • France as the strategic partner • Cooperative Agreements/MOUs with Japan, Italy, Germany, Taiwan, Korea… • Lectures given by 200 French professors • Around 30 USTH lecturers and researchers in foreign exchange programs each year • 70% of USTH students attending overseas internship
