Someone who is Successful • Considers his dad to be successful because: • Chose something he liked doing (game keeping) • Stuck at it – liked the job he was doing • Therefore became successful
Influence of Success • Cash small influence • Ambition and enjoyment key to success • Good ideas lead to success – creative imagination (Games Design)
Personal Ambitions • Aiming for best grades • Hopefully leading to job with a games studio • Earn fair amount of money
Motivation • Doing course to earn a job in computer games industry • Motivation through positive feedback from lecturers/good marks – including constructive criticism • Demotivation – Too much criticism/bad marks
Personal Values/Qualities • Good team player • Listens to everyone else • Offers fair opinion/criticism • Doesn’t get frustrated when people don’t listen • Above qualities important in determining success
Into the future… • 5 years – Part of new games studio or joined one of the existing ones • Indie Developer? • 10 years – Rolling in sums of money from the games made (Hopefully!)
Definition of Successful • Someone who puts a lot of time and effort into task • Is not afraid to take a few risks • Aims to achieve the highest possible • Considers dad successful • Used to work nightshift at Safeway – worked way up • Now Executive Director of logistics company – Earns (££££££££££!)
Influences • Peter Sturgeon – Radio Mentor • Taught everything about radio • Stephen Miller • Work Colleague – Pushed me to reach my goal of being a competent team leader – a lot of learning involved, etc • Parents, friends, classmates
Goals/Motivations • Gain first class honours degree • Hopefully masters in Computer Systems • Encouragement from high standard of work • Good feedback • Good earning job in computing industry • Gain full amateur radio licence – live in big house – earn lots of money
Personal Values • “Gift of the gab” • Hard working, loyal – generally nice person • Easy to work with • Success - Organised, focused on achieving best, hard working • Time keeping, organisational, can work in a team or individually
Future… • 5 years – working towards master degree – contemplating Phd (Too early to make prediction) • 10 years – “Dr Chris Houston”, living in big fancy house, France, cars – Fancy gadgets (iPhone 12??) Good lifestyle
