  6. Rational (adj): reasonable; sensible; sane; able to think logically • Adv: rationally • N: rationality

  7. Banter (n): an exchange of playful remarks • (v): to speak lightly or playfully • Adj: bantering • Adv: banteringly • N: banterer

  8. Imperative (adj): absolutely necessary, unavoidable; in a commanding way; type of verb or sentence that commands • (n): a command • Adv: imperatively • N: imperativeness

  9. Independent clause: group of words that contains a subject and a verb, and can stand alone as a complete sentence • Dependent clause: contains a subject and verb, but cannot stand alone as a sentence • Try saying “I believe that…”
