1 Scope>methods for practice-led researchAll research should be as systematic and transparent so that its methods and outcomes are accessible and replicable. Allison, Brian et al, Research skills for students, London: Kogan Pase, 1996, p.21 . Newbury, D, Research perspectives in art and design, case studies, Research Training Initiative, 1996, p.15.

Newbury, D, Research perspectives in art and design, case studies, Research Training Initiative, 1996, p.15.The choice of methods becomes highly complicated because a ‘dominant’ paradigm of research methodology is lacking within the postmodern context of research. Gray, C. and J.Malins Research Procedures / Methodology for Artists & Designers, Aberdeen: The Centre for Research in Art and Design The Robert Gordon University, 1993, p.15The aforementioned situation leads to either of the following:- Researchers are able to critically combine methods or create new methods-Superficial use of methods.Researchers ignore the original context, limitations and potential of existing methods and misunderstand what practice-led research is or how it can be developed.
1 Scope>Revealing Practice Aims- To accomplish a deeper understanding of the developments and processes of practice-led doctoral research. - Based on the above, to identify opportunities for expanding the potential of practice-led research in fine art.Advantages Looking into and beyond our PhD degree and ‘institution-specific’ training to gain insights into alternative strategies and models of research. Presenting the development of our research projects through ‘visual abstracts’ posters as visual abstracts. - Showing projects in progress from all doctoral years. - Probe challenging and systematic strategies for presenting our research methods and progress to a wider audience and benefit from peer review.

3 DisseminationThere is currently a dearth of well documented research conferences especially with regards to student-led and inter-institutional conferences. The existing conference website will also include conference documentation, papers, information on contributors, posters and end-of conference evaluative report. http://www.wimbledon.ac.uk/revealingpracticeRevealing Practice website will be regularly updated to accommodate forthcoming student-led research conferences
