The Senior Phase Programme • Wide range of courses offering young people a variety of options with the majority accredited by the SQA. • Purpose is to help young people develop skills for learning, life and work and support the transition from school. • Open to pupils in S4-6 from August 2019. • Delivery for most courses is over 2 afternoons for 1 academic year or 1/2 academic years for Foundation Apprenticeships . • Courses are delivered at partnership colleges. • Courses range from SCQF Level 3 – 7. • More information on courses, level and location can be found on the school website or online at: www.eastdunbarton.gov.uk/edopps4all

Further Information and How to Apply • The Prospectus will be available online at the end of January: www.eastdunbarton.gov.uk/edopps4all • Pupils should discuss senior phase courses with their Guidance Teacher during the option choice process. • Online Application Forms open for both Senior Phase Partnership Programme courses and Foundation Apprenticeships – Monday 28 January and close – Friday 29 March. Links to the application forms can be found on the EDC Website (above) or by using the link on the school website.

  12. Further Information and How to Apply • Applicants and parents are invited to Partnership Information Evening at the college location where the course takes place. Lecturers for each course will be on hand to fully explain courses and answer any questions: Strathclyde University – Thursday 18 April Glasgow Kelvin College – Tuesday 23 April City of Glasgow College – Wednesday 24 April Glasgow Clyde College – Thursday 25 April **More information will be issued regarding open evenings once pupils have applied. • Courses start for successful pupils – August 2019

What is a Foundation Apprenticeship? • Worked based learning opportunity for students in S5 and S6 • Developed by Scottish Government and Skills Development Scotland • Addressing skills gaps in Scotland's growing industries • SCQF Level 6 (Same level as a Higher) • One of your option choices • Qualification delivered through time at college and time on work placement with employer

Foundation Apprenticeships Partnership between school, college and employer - 2 year framework offered to S5 pupils, 1 year framework to S6 pupils 13 frameworks available in 2018/19: • Civil Engineering • Engineering • Mechanical Engineering • Food and Drink Operations • ICT Hardware • ICT Software Development • Creative Digital Media • Social Services: Children and Young People • Social Services: Healthcare • Accountancy • Financial Services • Business Skills • Scientific Technologies • Courses marked in bold available to students in S5 starting S6 in August.

Foundation Apprenticeships WHY DO IT? • Gain a qualification recognised by employers • Gain experience in your chosen career while still at school • Develop self-confidence, problem solving and leadership skills • Enhance your job prospects or college/university application ENTRY REQUIRMENTS • S5/6 pupils with a strong desire to work in industry • Ability to achieve Higher grade by S6 • Subject specific entry requirements PROGRESSION • Accredited entry to a Modern Apprenticeship • College/University/Employment ATTENDANCE PATTERN • 2 Year - Tuesday and Thursday 1.30 pm – 4.30 pm • 1 Year - Tuesday and Thursday 9.00 am – 4.30 pm • Delivered in City of Glasgow, Glasgow Clyde or Glasgow Kelvin College – FA Application Form
