Guy Fawkes Night=Bonfire Night 5th November • gunpowder plot (=spiknutí) - in 1605 – Guy Fawkes (+conspirators - catholics) tried to blow up the Houses of Parliament to kill the protestant king (James I) • result – unsuccesful attempt, discovered, Guy Fawkes executed • these days – fireworks displays, bonfires
