8. Recruitment Process In our efforts to attract qualified applicants, Moraine Valley uses various methods to recruit administrative and professional, faculty, and support staff.
The college recruits mainly by listing vacancies on the Web site, where applicants can read detailed job postings and apply for the position of their choice. The college also advertises its positions in local metropolitan newspapers (Chicago Tribune, the Daily Southtown/Star), local community newspapers (Chicago Defender, LaRaza), national publications (The Chronicle of Higher Education, Diverse Issues in Higher Education), and employment Web sites (CareerBuilder.com, HigherEdJobs.com, InsideHigherEd.com), just to name a few. 9. The Job: Information Security Specialist Summary of Duties
Under the general direction of the Information Security Manager, assists in the implementation, maintenance and administration of the information security systems for the college. This position is also responsible for working with network engineers to implement and audit security measures as well as assist in daily operations.
The Information Security Specialist is dedicated to the learning college concepts by developing programs and facilitating activities that promote student success and lifelong learning.

Responsible for deployment of security policies and procedures for the college. This includes the security for systems such as networks, servers, PC’s, routers, firewalls and other networking devices.
Must have LAN/WAN architecture experience including protocols, routers, switches and hubs.
Must have a thorough knowledge of Information Security, including threats and architecture.
Must have excellent written and oral communications skills.
Provides leadership to other employees of the college on matters related to Information Security.
Work with campus police as required on any security breaches or forensic investigations of usage of college computing resources.
Always available in case of security incidents.
Initiate, facilitate and promote activities to foster information security awareness across the college.
Supports security related functions of the network operations center.
Assists in yearly security compliance audits.
