Current StatusBusiness Incubation Centre, Kathmandu (BICK) • BIC as new entity within DoCSI • Currently working under guidance from BICK Board • Member Secretary directly undertaking the work of Incubation Center Manager now • This task is in addition to other previous committments • Complete management outsourcing of BIC is found better option • Management outsourcing is in Process Management

Current StatusBusiness Incubation Centre, Kathmandu (BICK) • Undergoing incubatee selection process • Call for proposals was made • 39 proposals were received • ICT – 18% • Agro-based – 15 % • Herb based – 13 % • Handicrafts – 18% • Energy Related – 18 % • Others (mineral, multimedia etc.) – 18 % • Short listing of 15 proposals • Workshop for short listed incubatees • Detailed proposals were submitted and finalizing of selected incubatees in process Incubatees
BICK Challenges • Weak synergy in action • Delay in policy intervention • Political instability • Bureaucratic instability • Institutional capacity
BICK - Lessons Learnt • Extensive promotional activities are required to aware prospective incubatees • Confidence & credibility of Incubators needs to be raised to attract incubatee with great potential enterprise
Concluding Remarks • More incubation centers needs to be established • Umbrella organizations of SMEs like FNCSI and academia such as Kathmandu & Tribhuwan Universities are interested in setting up incubators • Crucial support from bi-lateral and multi-lateral donor agencies is sought
