California Demographics California leads nation in number of veterans 2.1 million (9.2%) of 23 million nationally 11% of active duty in U.S. Armed Forces are from California 170,000 of 1.45 million 12% of active duty are stationed in California 175,000 of 1.45 million 25,000 plus Reserve and Army & Air National Guard stationed in California

  8. Economic Impact • The military contributes more than $13 billion annually to the regional economy • More than 260,000 veterans reside in the county • Approximately 27,400 active duty military will be mustered out in California this year; approximately 283,000 nationwide
