“Reheating Lukewarm Leftovers”
Tend to choose what is POPULAR over what is RIGHT. • Don’t want to be saved from their sin, only from the PENALTY of their sin. • Gauge their morality or ‘goodness’ by COMPARING themselves to the secular world.
Say they love Jesus, and He is indeed a part of their lives, but only A PART • Will serve God and others, but the are LIMITS to how far they will go.
Life’s Focus can be narrowed down to three important aspects: • FAITH • FAMILY • MINISTRY
“Don’t you know that those who run in a race all run, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you win” (1 Cor. 9:24)
“O woman, your faith is great. It shall be done for you as you wish!” (Matt. 15:28)
THREE CONDITIONS TO AVOID BECOMING LUKEWARM • WATCH OUT “Watch over your heart will all diligence, for from it flow the springs of life!” (Prov. 4:23) NASB “Above ALL ELSE guard your heart, for it effects EVERYTHING that you do!” (Prov. 4:23) NLT
THREE CONDITIONS TO AVOID BECOMING LUKEWARM 2. CRY OUT “Then they cried out to the Lord in their troubles and He delivered them out of their distresses.” (Ps 107:6)
THREE CONDITIONS TO AVOID BECOMING LUKEWARM 3) THROW OUT “Since we have such a large cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us…” (Heb. 12:1)
“On the next day, when they had left Bethany, He became hungry. Seeing at a distance a gif tree in leaf, He went to see of perhaps He would find anything on it; and when He came to it, He found nothing but leaves, for it was not the season for figs…
“… said to it, ‘May no one ever eat fruit from you again!’. And His disciples were listening” (Mark 11:12-14)
FIG TREE STANDARD If you are a fig tree, and your maker comes looking for figs, you better have figs and not have excuses, whether in season or not!
“Trust in the Lord with all you heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.” (Prov. 3:5-6)
