We need to change the scenario – Marc Botella, Fundacion Esplai. • The World Telecentre Academy would promote “an open and continuous (learning) system driven by telecentre networks, universities and governments around the world.” – Karishma Kiri, Microsoft Corporation • The WTA should aim to build the capacity of telecentre workers to command the same kind of respect from the community that the temple priest used to enjoy in the past – Professor V K Samaranayake, ICTA, Sri Lanka

Session 2: Global update telecentre.org Academy: the definition (November 2007) • Telecentre.org academy is a function of telecentre.org that is aimed to support the growing capacity needs of grassroots telecentre workers by establishing national and regional capacity building and learning programs, and by coordinating, generating and optimizing resources as well as promoting knowledge sharing on training and capacity building among telecentre.org Academies around the world. This function is complimented by developing “quality seals” which will promote telecentre.org academy certificates and guarantee that they become a trusted brand; the quality of these certificates will be ensured by accreditation criteria • Basheerhamad Shadrach, telecentre.org Academy
