What is R-TIME? • R-TIME = “Request for Technology and Instructional Materials Evaluation” • A process and an electronic system • R-TIME Goals: • Ensure that new instructional materials align with NISD curriculum (C&I evaluation) • Ensure that new technology is compatible with NISD network and computers (technology evaluation) • Get needed materials in the hands of staff and students as quickly as possible! • Implemented October 2008 • Replaced the Technology Proposal System and the INS-03 paper form

  3. R-TIME “Big Ideas” • Over 4,200 items on the District-approved lists  no R-TIME needed!  do a P.O. NOTE: any employee can access the lists – no special login needed • Only “exceptions” require an R-TIME submissionNOTE: login required - authorized employees only • R-TIME Committee meets weekly to discuss and process new requests • Automated workflow and better communication  view status of your request as it moves through the system

End of Year R-TIME Stats • R-TIME District-Approved Lists: 1,824 software items; 1,109 items hardware items; 1,283 Supplementary Instructional Materials (SIM) items • Since R-TIME launched in October… • 1,309 new requests for technology and instructional materials evaluation. This averages 7 per day or 35 per week. • 82% (1,067) of these new requests were for technology (712 for software, 355 for hardware) • 18% (242) were for non-technology instructional materials • 88% (1,150) of them have been decided thus far (73% approved, 27% denied), taking an average time of 30.6 days for a final decision. • Approved requests represent an estimated expenditure of $610,752.
