Reminder - The Progression • Repentance is the first step in the process • Prior to Jesus death and resurrection, the next step was baptism • Post Jesus death and resurrection, salvation and baptism were the next step • Baptism in the Holy Spirit was the next step • Yielded and used in power followed • Finally, this life expires and eternity begins

  4. The Purpose of Repentance • A Godly sorrow leads to repentance • Excuses keep us from moving forward • Repentance is the spring board of transformation • 2 Cor 7:8-11 • Luke 18:9-14

  5. The Purpose of Salvation • Deliverance from the power and penalty of sin • Restore the righteousness that was intended for mankind • So that we may live in this life for righteousness and no longer serve sin (1 Peter 2:23-25)

  6. The Purpose of Water Baptism • Public declaration of the death of the old nature and the emergence of the new • Pattern and parallel of Christ’s death and resurrection • Romans 6:4-14

  7. The Purpose of the Holy Spirit Baptism • 1 Cor 12 • Word of Wisdom • Word of Knowledge • Faith • Healings • Miracles • Prophecy • Discerning of Spirits • Different Tongues • Interpretations of Tongues

  8. Yielded and Used • Not tolerating sin, but repenting from it and being actively transformed • Walking upright and holy before God for His sake, not ours • Knowing that the old man is dead and the new man is alive • Being submitted and available for the Holy Spirit
