The law for the development support for the Pomurje region 2010-2015
The objective of the law • To create conditions for the restructuring and accelerated development of the Pomurje region with a programmed approach and by securing financial means.

1. Stimulation of Pomurje’s competitiveness Directing investments into industrial and business zones cuppled with support services Priority sectors (competitive advantages of the region: • Geothermal and other renewable sources of energy • Agrofood and rural development • Turizem Objective: 1.000 new workplaces created Funds available: 33 mio EUR
1. Stimulation of Pomurje’s competitiveness The measure has following instruments: • Supporting the preparation and implementation of development projects in the region • Stimulation of investments of companies and creation of new workplaces • Stimulation of human resources development • Stimulation of social entrepreneurship • Promotion of the region and attraction of foreign direct investments
2. Stimulation of employment Eligible: companies registered in the Pomurje region (also if owned by foreign investors!) Case 1: employing for at least 6 months unemployed persons for 1 year • Incentive: decrease of the corporate tax base for 70 % of gross wages costs, up to max. state aid Case 2: employing for at least 6 months unemployed persons for 2 years • Incentive: reimbursement of social security costs which are paid by the employer
3. Tax incentives for investments Eligible: companies registered in the Pomurje region (also if owned by foreign investors!) Incentive: decrease of corporate tax rate for 70 % of the investment costs into equipment and non-material assets up to the max. State aid Own funds min. 25 % of the investment costs
4. Preferential treatment of projects from Pomurje Establishment of a special training centre for companies from the Pomurje region in order to implement research activities, train or reorient persons to another profession • Training and research activities • Activities to support technological development of products, their controlling and quality assuring

Preferential treatment of projects from Pomurje Establishment of a regional economic center • Cofinanced by the EU cohesion fund • Direct project approval for financing from the national budget • Government office: feasibility studies, interest of private investors and preparation of documentation
4. Preferential treatment of projects from Pomurje Investments for restructuring and raising competitiveness of agriculture and forestry, food processing industry and diversification into non agriculture activities • Subsidies from the Rural development programme of the Republic of Slovenia (Rural DP) • 10 % of funds from measures 1 and 3 of the Rural DP are reserved for applicants from the Pomurje region (improvement of competitiveness of the agriculture sector, quality of life in rural areas, diversification of rural economy)
