  1. METHODS Antibody Screen using LISS Source: Fung MK: Technical manual, ed 18, Bethesda, MD, 2014, AABB. Procedure Test Materials Tech Tips Test Results

  2. Test Materials What test materials are needed to perform the antibody screen? AHG Reagents: Polyspecific and Monospecific What is needed for a specimen?

  3. Test Materials What test materials are needed to perform the antibody screen?

  4. Procedure How do you perform the antibody screen test? Tubes are placed in the incubator for a specified time. Tubes are placed in the centrifuge and spun for preset time (on right).

  5. Procedure How do you perform the antibody screen test? Tubes are placed in the cell washer and washed 3-4 times with saline. AHG reagent is added to the dry cell button.

  6. Test Results How do you interpret the results of antibody screen test? Grade the agglutination reaction in each tube and record the reactions. Interpret the reactions as indicated in the following table. Screening cell tube with a negative AHG reaction. To confirm negative reaction, IgG-sensitized red cells are added and must agglutinate.

  7. Tech Tips Here are some tips for accurate test performance… Some manufacturers add a green dye to Anti-IgG to eliminate one cause of a false-negative AHG test. You have reached the end of the module.
