NROTC Navy 4-year National Scholarship Offers • Select rates decreased dramatically in FY10 due to increased applications and decreased offers. • Total Scholarship offers declined due to decreased production requirements and the desire to maintain sideload scholarship availability for top performing College Program students. There was a smaller decrease again in FY11. • Expect scholarship offers to remain at current levels in the outyears.

Marine Production Issues • Out year production steady • FY11 & 12 Production Goals at an all time high of 380 • This is a major increase over past years, but is expected to decreased again to 320 in FY13 and remain steady at 320 • FY11 production relied heavily on sideloads • Class originally loaded for 225 production • FY12 is the first class initially loaded for the higher 380 production goal. • Production decreases in FY13-15 will mean fewer sideload opportunities as these classes were loaded for the higher 380 production goal also.
Navy Production Issues • Out year production steady • FY11 Production Goal 822 • Outyear production 700-750 most years. Production for FY 12 & 13 higher (780, 850), as these classes were initially loaded for a higher production. • Diversity • Technical Majors and Nuclear Power • Production to Needs of the Navy

Academic Major Policy Status • New policy to link majors to scholarship status for Navy option midshipmen began fall 2009 (already required for Nurses) • Limits changes between “Tiers” of Majors • Tier 1 – Selected Engineering • Tier 2 – Other Engineering and Math/Science • Tier 3 – Non-Technical • Changing Tiers of Majors requires prior approval to maintain scholarship benefits. • Changes not approved will result in transfer to College Program GOALSand RESULTS: • 85% of Scholarship offers to Tier 1 & 2 Majors (This year’s offers were 93%) • 85% Freshman Enrollment Target (This year’s Freshman stil enrolling) • 80% Beginning of Sophomore Year (This year’s Soph. are 86%) • 75% Beginning of Junior Year (This year’s Juniors are 79%) • 70% Beginning of Senior Year (This year’s Seniors are 61% - They are the last class NOT tied to Tier of Major) • Goal is to commission 65% Technical Majors
New Partnerships • 2011-2012 Academic Year: • Expanded Cross-enrollment agreement with Harvard University • Harvard cross-town has been in place since 1984 • Expanded agreement Gives an NROTC presence on the Harvard campus • Courses are still taught at MIT • New Cross-enrollment agreement with Columbia University and SUNY Maritime • 2012-2013 Academic Year: • New NROTC Unit at Yale University • Will be a consortium with existing unit at Holy Cross • Brings NROTC back to the Yale Campus • Under discussions with other schools
