In addition, the amount of waste concrete demolished from old buildings or reconstruction of highways and other infrastructures is rapidly rising in the world. Such a large amount of natural aggregate consumption and landfill of waste concrete would be responsible for many environmental consequences. Investigations are still necessary for recycling of demolished concrete for high-level applications as a structural concrete. With this background, this study was planned by the Department of Civil Engineering of The University of Asia Pacific (UAP) with the financial support by The Structural Engineers Limited (SEL). The scope of this seminar will cover the following topics: • Properties of the recycled aggregates collected from demolished building sites, • Improvement of the workability of recycled aggregate concrete, • Compressive strength, Young’s modulus, stress-strain properties of recycled aggregate concrete, • Variation of strength between cylinder concrete specimens and cored cylinder concrete specimens collected from concrete slabs made with recycled aggregate, • Comparison of recycled aggregate with different types of virgin aggregates. • Drying shrinkage of recycled aggregate concrete.
