He presented His Credentials (1:1-7) • Paul opened the letter with his name unlike the letters today • He was a servant of Jesus Christ (1a) • Servant- slave • 60,000,000 slaves in Roman Empire • He was an apostle (1a) • Apostle – one who is sent by authority with commission • Requirement – experience of seeing the risen Savior (I Cor 9:1-2, Acts 9:1-9) • Apostle to the Gentiles • He was a preacher of the gospel (1c-4)
