  3. How do I find out how my child is doing in class? • Jupiter SIS • Contact the teacher by email or phone • Quarterly and semester report cards • Progress Reports – Posted on Jupiter everyday!

  4. What do I do if my child is having difficulty? • Student can get help from teachers directly • Parent-Teacher Conference • Learning Support Center Open Sunday-Thursday at Lunch and After School from 2:30-4:00 pm in the Library.

  6. Parent – Teacher Communication • Why? Questions or concerns regarding your child’s progress in class. • How? By email or phone (contact information on KAS website) • When? As soon as you have a concern – do not wait!

  7. School Policies • The student Agenda publishes all the School Policies regarding the rules and consequences of conduct at KAS.

  8. Student Involvement on Campus • Athletic Teams • Clubs

  9. Athletic Teams • Students must tryout for most teams prior to the season and maintain a 2.0 GPA and satisfactory citizenship.

  10. Clubs • Students are encouraged to find a few clubs of interest and maintain involvement throughout high school.

  11. High School Graduation Requirements • 4 English • 3 Math • 3 Science • 1 additional Math or Science • 3 Social Studies • 1 Art • 2 Foreign Language • 1 Physical Education • 5 Electives

  12. Graduation Requirements • ½ Personal Health • ½ Life Management • 24 Total Credits • Students must earn a 60% or higher to pass a class.

  13. Tips for Success • Aim for a high GPA • Take challenging courses • Get Organized! Use the Student Agenda. • Get to know your teachers

  14. Suggestions for College Entrance • A. History and Social Science (3 years, 4 years recommended ) • B. English (4 years) • C. Mathematics (3 years, 4 years recommended) • D. Science (3 years Lab Science, 4 years recommended) • E. Foreign Language (2 years) • F. Visual and Performing Arts (1 year) • G. College Prep Elective (1/2 year)

  15. Suggestions for College Entrance • SAT Reasoning or ACT with Writing • TOFEL • SAT Subject Tests • Choose challenging and rigorous courses • Community Service • No “D” grades accepted, earn a C- or higher. • Repeated grades will be calculated into GPA
