What’s New? - Validate Content • A new content validation button will allow users to validate their COS Service Devices' content outside of the daily, automatic content validation window (12:00 am - 3:00 am CT). • Within the Service Devices tab, the user will have the ability to click the "Validate All" button to update all COS Service Devices attached to that configuration. The user can also select particular COS Service Devices and, using the Actions button, validate them independently from any other listed COS Service Device. • While a COS Service Device's content is being validated, both the corresponding Content Management indicator (CM) and overall configuration will turn yellow - indicating an update is taking place. • Once the content validation has completed, everything will return to green - indicating the configuration and COS Service Device(s) are fully functional. 8
What’s New? - Validate Content • All content that is downloaded to the COS Service Device, (all programs that are checked under the Content Management tab,) will be validated during the validation process. A site can use this option to ensure all of their downloaded testing content is valid. 9
Reminders 10
Reminder – Secure Practice Test with Response Transmission • Available August 6, 2018 – April 30, 2019 • Form content has been enhanced by duplicating items in order to more accurately represent the load placed on the district/school system when operational testing is taking place. • The new Technology Enhanced items are not available in the Secure Practice Test with Response Transmission. Use Experience Online Testing Georgia or Secure Practice Test (without Response Transmission) to practice with the new Technology Enhanced items. • Copying a test session in eDIRECT will be allowed in order to accommodate those that desire a student be able to take a particular assessment multiple times. • Students will be loaded from Winter and Spring Pre-ID files. • Test Sessions will not be created when the Pre-ID files are loaded. • Multiple Student Upload can also be used to add students, test sessions will be created with this method of adding students. • If using the same file to upload students multiple times, you will need to change the Teacher Name to create a unique test session name. 11
Reminder – Extended Retry Logic • Provides solution to avoid a network connection error that disconnected students from testing or caused error flags previously on the TSM • Results in fewer students disconnected from testing • Continues attempting to connect for up to five minutes • Removes the need for response caching that was previously used with a TSM 12
Reminder – Extended Retry Logic • If INSIGHT cannot send a test response to DRC due to connectivity issues, it displays the following error message. 13
Reminder – Extended Retry Logic • INSIGHT attempts to send the test response to DRC for five minutes. During this time, the following scenarios may occur: • Scenario I: A connection is re-established quickly. • In this situation, the error message closes and the tester continues testing. Note that this situation could occur very quickly, even before a test proctor has had time to contact the tester. • Scenario II: The tester is directed to close the message (clicks Exit the Test). • In this situation, a test proctor directs the tester to click Exit the Test, INSIGHT closes, and testing ends for the tester. • Note: All test information is saved and tester can resume testing at same point in the test when they re-enter the test. 14
Reminder – Extended Retry Logic • Scenario III: The tester is directed to wait and to leave the message displayed. • In this situation, one of two things occur: • If a network connection is re-established within five minutes, the test response is sent to DRC, the message closes automatically, and the tester can continue testing. • If a network connection is not re-established within five minutes, the message closes and an Internet Connection Error message displays, requiring the tester to exit INSIGHT by clicking OK. 15
Reminder – INSIGHT Portal Page • Student testing portal page for 2018-2019 16
Reminder – eDIRECT Permissions • eDIRECT Permissions • Reference the Permissions Matrix in the eDIRECT User Guide • Each user will be assigned a set of permissions (district/school level), to allow the user to handle testing responsibilities • Assign those permissions to appropriate district- or school-level personnel that assist in trouble-shooting • Example, “Test Tickets - Unlock” permission 17
Reminder – Looking Forward: COS • As of the EOC August Mid-Month (August 6), all districts should have transitioned from the TSM to COS Service Devices for Content Caching • DRC will no longer be supporting the TSM for Content Caching for Milestones, WIDA Screener, ACCESS for ELLs 2.0. • Using the TSM for Response Caching is allowed but not recommended. • The TSM will not be available or supported for Content Caching or Response Caching in 2019-2020. 18
Technology and Testing • Testing and Technology teams should work closely together • Review training dates and times • Review testing schedule, number of testers, amount of time testing • Capacity Estimator • Computer Use Estimator • Readiness Checklist • Plan for Secure Practice Test sessions • Verify that any new district technology works with INSIGHT • Check Firewall Settings and Whitelisting • Verify new hardware and software works with INSIGHT 20
Network Requirements • All testing devices should have access to the Internet and DRC servers using HTTP/HTTPS protocols on ports 80 and 443 • All firewalls should allow connectivity on ports 80, 443, and 55222-55225 • Whitelist the following file types, both internally and externally: enc, exe (for updates), gif, html, jar, jpeg, xml • Prioritize/whitelist INSIGHT traffic on: firewalls, internet packet shaper, routers, switches, proxies, other network devices • Whitelist these URLs on content filtering systems or other proxy/firewall software that is used locally: • https://drc-centraloffice.com • https://ga-insight-client.drcedirect.com • https://ga-insight.drcedirect.com • https://ga.drcedirect.com • https://www.drcedirect.com • https://wbte.drcedirect.com • https://dtk.drcedirect.com • https://api-gateway-cloud.drcedirect.com • https://api-gateway.drcedirect.com • https://cdn-content-prod.drcedirect.com • https://cdn-download-prod.drcedirect.com 21
System Requirements • DRC provides updates of system requirements every 3-4 months • Goal to provide guidance based on device/operating system vendor support plans • Please note – If you experienced satisfactory performance from the hardware you used for online testing in 2017-2018, you should experience the same performance, or better, this year using the updated DRC INSIGHT secure browser and COS Service Device software – IF the device/operating system vendor still supports the device/operating system • Details of the System Requirements are located in eDIRECT • https://ga.drcedirect.com • General Information/Documents/ • Document Type of Manuals 22
Getting Started – The Basics • Think about how you will group your testing machines • Local Testing Schedule – New Scheduling Flexibility • Computer Usage Estimator • COS Service Device • Capacity Estimator • Decide where and how you will deploy it • Install it • Setup Configurations in the Central Office Services – Device Toolkit (COS-DTK) for each group • Install DRC INSIGHT • One installation for Milestones (EOC and EOG), WIDA Screener, and ACCESS for ELLs 2.0 (some sites may have already done this for WIDA screening and ACCESS testing) 23
Groups of Testing Machines • Consider the local testing calendar and work with the System Test Coordinator to determine any scheduling flexibility options to maximize devices and bandwidth. • Think about how you will group your testing machines • Location • Lab/Cart • Device OS • Grade • Other • Consider using an organized naming convention • You will use this information later in the COS-DTK to set up configurations. 25
COS Service Device • COS includes two major components: • COS-Device Toolkit (COS-DTK) Interface • Configuration User Interface replaced stand-alone Device Toolkit • Enhanced integration into eDIRECT for improved security and usability • COS Service Devices • Content Management and Content Hosting services that replace TSM • Service device software is installed locally on one or more dedicated devices at testing sites 27
Installation of COS Service Device • Select the appropriate installation package from Georgia Milestones eDIRECT/General Information/Downloads and double-click to begin the installation • Windows version 2.2 • MacOS and Linux version 2.1 • Configure Service Ports • On this window you specify the base port • After you specify the base port, COS Service Device automatically selects the next three consecutively numbered ports. • You usually can use the default port values of 55222, 55223, 55224, and 55225. 28
Installation of COS Service Device • Test Service Ports • After you select your ports, click Test to verify that the ports selected are available on the device, then click OK and Next (or Cancel to exit the installation). 29
Installation of COS Service Device • Complete the Wizard and eDIRECT is launched • Two things now occur at the same time: The Completing the Central Office Wizard window appears, and the DRC INSIGHT Portal screens are launched. • Important: From the Completing the Central Office Wizard window highlight and copy and save the URL that displays — you can use it to resume the process at this point (if necessary) without re-installing the COS Service Device. 30
Create a COS Configuration • After you have installed a COS Service Device, you must create an initial configuration referencing the COS Service Device to associate it with your testing devices. This section describes how to create the initial COS association. DRC provides a wizard to help you with this process. • When you finish installing the COS Service Device, if you are not signed in to eDIRECT, you must sign in. If you are already signed in to eDIRECT, see next page. 32
Create a COS Configuration • After you finish installing the COS Service Device, if you are signed in to the eDIRECT, the End User License Agreement for DRC Software window displays. Read the agreement, check the I Agree checkbox, and click Accept (you must accept the agreement to continue). 33
Create a COS Configuration • When the configuration wizard displays, you can name the COS Service Device to help you identify it in the COS-DTK dashboard. The name displays anytime you view the device in COS-DTK. If you do not name the COS Service Device, only the Device ID, generated by DRC, displays. • Consider including the school’s name when creating the COS Service Device as a means of organizing your COS Service Devices 34
Create a COS Configuration • Enter a name for the configuration that will help you identify it easily. This can be the same or different than the name of the device that was defined in a previous step. • To enable automatic DRC INSIGHT secure browser software updates, select Enable Auto Update. • When you select Enable Auto Update, DRC updates the DRC INSIGHT secure browser software automatically. • To specify an HTTP proxy host server, move the Proxy Host toggle to Yes and enter the server name (or IP address) and port number (separated by a colon), followed by a forward slash (/), in the Proxy Path field. • When you are ready, click Next. 35
Create a COS Configuration • When the Locations page appears, select Georgia from the Testing Program drop‑down menu. Then, start typing a district name, school name, or site code in the Site filter. When you locate the district or school name to which you want to register the configuration and its associated COS Service Devices and testing devices, click Add Location. 38
Create a COS Configuration • This shows a configuration with both Milestones and WIDA 39
Create a COS Configuration • You can set Content Management to Yes or No. • Note: Each COS configuration must have at least one service device that has Content Management set to Yes. 40
Create a COS Configuration • If you select Yes, the test content for the selected administrations and accommodations will be downloaded automatically to your COS device. • Note: The default is all available administrations and accommodations. If you need to save space on the device, de-select unneeded administrations and accommodations. • After you make your selections, click Next. 41
Create a COS Configuration • On the Content Hosting page, Verify that Content Hosting is set to Yes. • Note: With Content Management set to Yes, the current COS service device appears as the first content source. 42
