  1. Stirling Engine Generator Detailed Design Review Tara Dougherty Thomas Gamer Daniel Thering David Volzer http://peswiki.com/images/0/0c/Stirling_engine_diagram.gif RIT LOGO: http://www.se.rit.edu/~greenapple/www/images/rit_logo.jpg

  2. Overview: • Project Recap • Customer needs and Specifications • Bill of Materials • Thermal Materials • CAD Solid Model • ANSYS Model • Circuit Drawings • Electrical Design • Updated Risk Assessment • RACI Matrix • Test Plan • MSD II Schedule

  3. Project Recap: • Design and construct a portable Stirling cycle engine generator that operates using solar energy, or with any kind of heat source (fire, heat lamp, etc.)

  4. Customer Needs and Specifications: • The generator must produce 10 watts at 5 volts of electrical power. • Must be weatherproof, and be able to last 1 year from the date it is set outside. • Provide first generation design for further development of higher power applications. • Must weigh less than 20 pounds. • C:\Users\Tara Michelle\Desktop\P12471\Items for Detailed Design Review\Product_Specifications Rev02.docx

  5. Bill of Materials: • P12471\web\public\BOM9054.xls

  6. Thermal Materials: • Mykroy Ceramic Insulation Disk: • Glass-like ceramic • Rated up to 800°C • Prevents conductivity between cylinders • http://www.crystexcomposites.com/new/machinableDX.pdf • http://www.crystexcomposites.com/new/MachiningGuidelines.pdf • Absorber/insulation: • Mineral Wool Insulation • Rated up to 650°C • http://www.industrialinsulation.com/images/mineral_wool_MSDS.pdf • Fiberglass Paper insulation with a Teflon Wrap • Teflon Wrap peaks at 300°C, best between 200°C and 260°C (would go around the outside of the fiberglass paper insulation)
