  2. What lessons can we learn? • Primary Lesson? Spiritual Preparation!

We need to prepare for death Proverbs 27:1 Do not boast about tomorrow, For you do not know what a day may bring forth. 1 Thessalonians 5:2-3 For you yourselves know full well that the day of the Lord will come just like a thief in the night. 3. While they are saying, "Peace and safety!" then destruction will come upon them suddenly like labor pains upon a woman with child, and they will not escape.

We need to prepare for judgment Ecclesiastes 9:11-12 I again saw under the sun that the race is not to the swift and the battle is not to the warriors, and neither is bread to the wise nor wealth to the discerning nor favor to men of ability; for time and chance overtake them all. 12. Moreover, man does not know his time: like fish caught in a treacherous net and birds trapped in a snare, so the sons of men are ensnared at an evil time when it suddenly falls on them.

Spiritual Preparation! • Belief, feelings, nor sincerity make one right • Tragedy sets our priorities Luke 12:15 Then He said to them, "Beware, and be on your guard against every form of greed; for not even when one has an abundance does his life consist of his possessions." Life is people, relationships, family, loved ones, and associations.

All sin is premeditated hatred by one person… Satan. • Broken families • Deserted kids • Immorality • Separated friends • Division • Gossip • Slander • Hatred • Name calling • Lying • Envy • Coveting 1 Peter 5:8 Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.

Spiritual Preparation! • Belief, feelings, nor sincerity make one right • Tragedy sets our priorities • Recognition of a common foe • Decisions have far reaching consequences Proverbs 14:1 The wise woman builds her house, But the foolish tears it down with her own hands.
