Syntax(Grammar) • The morphology and and syntax of Standard English in New Zealand do not differ categorically from those of standard British (unfortunately…) BUT
A preference for –ves plurals with words like roof, wharf rather than an –fs plural • A greater use of proven as the past participle of prove. • The use of yous (non-standard) • The use of tag eh?, to check comprehension, but partly as a solidarity marker (with falling intonation)
