Does the hero encounters tests and helpers? Who/What? YES! He did encounter tests and helpers. He encountered Grendel, Grendel’s Mother, and the Dragon. While a few men helped with the first two,onlyWiglaf helped with the dragon.

Does the hero endures the supreme ordeal(s)? YES! Grendel Grendel’s Mother Dragon He faced many monsters/villans and lived through all but one.
