Tuesday 12/1 Power Words DLP The blacksmith is more stronger then the other people in the town. The poem starts with the words “under a spreading chestnut tree.” • Façade • The front of a building. • SanLee has a very contemporary façade. • Altruistic • Unselfish regard for or devotion to the welfare of others. • In the end of A Christmas Carol, Scrooge is altruistic.
Wednesday 12/2 Power Words DLP The blacksmith work from morning until night he never take a break. After working all day, a rest was what the blacksmith had earned. • Scrutinize • Scan, inspect, examine • I will scrutinize your letters to Mr. Scrooge. • Tenuous • Having little substance or strength; flimsy, weak. • Your argument for recess for seventh grade is very tenuous.
Thursday 12/3 Power Words DLP In the poem they had some sad lines. The blacksmith is kind and decent and also has courage. • Transient • Passing through or by a place with only a brief stay or sojourn. • My daughter, Candy, will make a transient visit this holiday. • Transcend • To rise above or go beyond the limits. • It is a teacher’s hope that her student’s will transcend their perceived limits.

Longfellow is considered by many people to be one of America’s best poets. • Trajectory • A path, progression, or line of development • Santa’s trajectory is south from the North Pole to Sanford, NC, USA. • Acquisition • Something acquired or gained. • Knowledge should be your goal acquisition in school.
