  4. ARL Briefing #4.a ARL • Member organization of about 110 premier research libraries • Over 100 years old • Maintains a robust and consistent longitudinal database of Library data • Research libraries have a relatively unique mission for collections and preservation

ARL Briefing #4.a ARL Data • Are annual • Are sometimes missing – shows as zero • Are not as ‘clean’ as one would like • But, overall, are very good and very consistent • All ‘people’ are defined in terms of Full-Time Equivalent (FTE), not ‘heads’ • Normalization is per FTE Tenure Track Faculty
