Presenting Prestyl’s IRL Infra-Red Long Wave Heating Technology
Core Technology • AGEAH-Prestyl has acquired the worldwide production and marketing rights for a new generation of Far-infrared heating technology based on a proprietary film produced by ILO Technology. • With sixteen years of successful IRL development ILO is one of the world's most advanced manufacturers of IRL heating media.
Core Technology • ILO/Prestyl technology can be found in…… • Modern automobiles and aircraft • Homes, Buildings, Industrial complexes from the ancient to the latest creations • The world’s fastest trains, largest passenger vessel, small boats, RVs and metro-passenger cars. • Agricultural applications
The Art of Heating • In today’s market there is an increased demand for efficient and esthetically pleasing products. Professional interior designers are continually looking for ways to conceal certain needed elements in their designs, such as televisions, speakers, radiators, etc… • Prestyl has addressed comfort heating in a way that can fit seamlessly into any design. From the basic modern black or white to over 150 different artwork designs available in several sizes. Sample of art available
The Art of Heating • Having the option of integrating custom graphics, artwork or a family photograph is a significant way to personalize a space for your clients. • The background shown is a sample of some of the designs currently available. Sample of art available
Product Overview Office applications • In-ceiling Panels • Heated Ceiling Tiles • All popular Voltages Residential Artworks • Plug-in, 120 Volts
Product Overview • Residential/Industrial installation behind plasterboard (US approvals estimated 4th quarter 2011) • Industrial and Sports hall applications
What is IRL? IRL, orInfra-RedLongwavelength • The IRL produced by PRESTYL’s technology is an infrared wave in the healthy Infrared “C” band (also called Far-Infrared) • This is considered to be very health for people, plants and animals; it is deemed “natural warmth” • The actual wavelength can be found in the band between 7500 en 10000nm (7.5 – 10 micrometer) PRESTYL ”radiates” to a maximum of 16’, or about 5 meters • The warmth is felt as a gentle IRL. • IRL at this wavelength travels through the air and the heat energy is absorbed by materials or mass (identical to the warmth of the sun); like with a car’s headlamps, the energy loses intensity over distance.
Summary benefits IRL • Travels around air-molecules so the air does not heat up • The air is heated by the mass (objects) in the space, not by the IRL • Because the air is not heated the relative humidity will remain stable • No convection when ceiling-mounted; minimal convection when wall-mounted - - no dust circulation!
Summary continued • Saves Energy since it does not heat the air; it only heats mass (objects) • Low initial cost compared with traditional heating systems • Low cost of ownership; no maintenance • Low surface temperature (approx 200°F) • May be used on walls or ceiling (ceiling is the most efficient for IRL) • Virtually no dust circulation • Healthy Far-Infrared • Stable humidity (good for people with respiratory problems
Summary continued • “Gentle”, comfortable warmth • The room thermostat is typically set 2-3 degrees lower than with conventional heat (no need to heat the air; people, floors, walls and objects in the room are warm • Easily reachable “comfort-level” so there is no need for excessive heating • In properly installed systems the formation of mold is virtually eliminated (bathrooms, east facing walls, etc.) • Stops or reverses mold (dries excessive moisture and the wall assumes the same humidity levels as the rest of the space so mold cannot grow)
Summary continued • Totally silent • No odors (even after prolonged periods) • No dark edges (no convection thus no dark dust adheres) • 100% recyclable according to International Standard RT2015 and exceeds HQE Kyoto Protocol • 2-year standard warranty, 5 Years optional • Wall panels can be installed by homeowner (simple plug-in) • Larger systems use “off the shelf” control components
Important considerations ILO/PRESTYL: • 16 year old proven technology with high-profile OEM customers worldwide (successful relationships spanning well over a decade) • Hundreds of different OEM heating applications • 16 miles of IR film can be produced per day (this capacity can be doubled in just a few months) • ILO Technology (the manufacturing company) has been financially independent from its inception!
Available IRL panel types • Standard Collection • There are over 120 available photographs in the Standard Collection (because of the large variety of voltages only a limited number are stocked in the USA, all others available as special orders)
Available IRL panel types • Suspended and in-ceiling panels • Standard color is white • Voltages 120V, 208V, 240V, and 277V
Multi-panel wiring • Single panels may be plugged-in or can be controlled by hard-wired or wireless line-level (AC Voltage) thermostat • Multi-panel installations can be easily controlled by “off the shelf” low-voltage thermostats in conjunction with (hybrid) relays and a simple 24 VDC power supply. • The following slide shows a typical wiring diagram • Depending on preference, the installer may obtain his/her own relays, transformers, control housings and thermostats or, if a complete package is required, these components may be supplied by Prestyl USA
The following products are expected to be introduced end 2011 Water-resistant towel warmer (with or without regulator) Heated mirrors Anti-fog Mirror film Specialty panels (UL pending)
Flexible products (UL pending) • Carpet heating • Heated carpets • Under laminate (in-floor) heating
Invisible Ceiling Systems (UL pending) • Prestyl’s revolutionary “hidden heating system” is placed in a frame which is mounted to the ceiling • Once installed and tested, Plasterboard is installed over the frames and finished like a traditional plasterboard ceiling • The entire ceiling becomes a Far-Infrared radiator • Provides soothing warmth at temperatures of approximately 100 degrees Fahrenheit

How do we save ENERGY? • Based on field data from a large number of installations over many years, Prestyl’s revolutionary “hidden heating system” only requires an installed power level of 4.0 to 5.5 Watts per square foot (41-56 Watts per square meter depending on glass surfaces present) • Traditional heating systems require 9.7 to 12 Watts per square foot (100-125 Watts per square meter) • If a room is 10 x 20’ by 10’ high, Prestyl would require an installed power of 920 Watts, while a traditional convection system would require 2260 Watts, or more than 11 Watts per square foot (100-125Watts/square meter) • Because energy is stored in mass, not the air, Prestyl’s systems offer significant savings over traditional heating methods
Average Energy Consumed • The average energy usage based on customer surveys is 30% to 50 % of the installed power • Case studies can be found on Prestyl’s website • The typical “Comfort temperature” is 2-3 degrees Fahrenheit (1.5-2 degrees C) lower than with conventional systems; this too reduces overall energy usage • The maximum distance covered by Prestyl’s systems is 16’ (or 5 meters); since most ceilings are lower, the energy will travel deeper into the mass and, hence, the floors stay warm longer
Prerequisites to Energy Savings • To guarantee a successful installation, there are a few cautions and prerequisites associated with Far Infrared (IRL); the items to be considered are virtually identical to in-floor hydronics or in-floor resistive electrical heating systems • The building should be reasonably well insulated, preferably with dual-pane windows • The floor should be well insulated; the most critical is perimeter insulation • Provide adequate drainage (groundwater runoff must be kept away from the floor) • Follow the installation recommendations to ensure proper panel placement • Under-capacity will cause the system to work overtime; where ever practical install 20% more power than calculated (in nearly all cases the power savings will pay for this added capacity)
