THE HOLY SPIRIT HAS ALL THE CHARACTERISTICS OF A PERSON: 1. He possesses the attributes of mind, will, and feeling. Romans 8:27 (NKJV) 27Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints accordingtothe will of God.
THE HOLY SPIRIT HAS ALL THE CHARACTERISTICS OF A PERSON: 1. He possesses the attributes of mind, will, and feeling. Ephesians 4:30 (NKJV) 30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
2. HE ENGAGES IN SUCH ACTIVITIES AS REVEALING, TEACHING, WITNESSING, INTERCEDING, SPEAKING, COMMANDING, AND TESTIFYING. John 14:26 (NKJV) 26But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.
2. HE ENGAGES IN SUCH ACTIVITIES AS REVEALING, TEACHING, WITNESSING, INTERCEDING, SPEAKING, COMMANDING, AND TESTIFYING. Acts 16:6-7 (NKJV) 6Now when they had gone through Phrygia and the region of Galatia, they were forbidden by the Holy Spirit to preach the word in Asia. 7After they had come to Mysia, they tried to go into Bithynia, but the Spirit did not permit them.
3. HE HAS A RELATIONSHIP WITH HUMAN PERSONS: HE CAN BE GRIEVED, LIED TO, AND BLASPHEMED. Acts 5:3 (NKJV) 3But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself?
4. THE HOLY SPIRIT POSSESSES THE DIVINE ATTRIBUTES OF THE GODHEAD: HE IS ETERNAL, OMNIPRESENT, OMNIPOTENT, AND OMNISCIENT.
5. He is referred to by such names as the spirit of god, the spirit of Christ, the comforter, the holy spirit, the holy spirit of promise, the spirit of truth, the spirit of grace, the spirit of life, the spirit of adoption, and the spirit of holiness.
6. He is illustrated with such symbols as fire, wind, water, a seal, oil, and a dove.
All this unfolds something of the vast realm or sphere of the operation of the Holy Spirit, which transformed and empowered Christians in every major denomination, demonstrating that the baptism in the Holy Spirit is not a denomination or a movement but an experience that brings a spiritual power to those that seek Him and want to really know and rely on Him.
