  1. NSTU Provincial Grants Professional Development Conference 2011 bjaucoin@staff.nstu.ca

Travel Fellowship • A fund of $3000, sponsored by Johnson Inc • To provide teachers, faculty and professional support staff with the opportunity to undertake programs of travel during the summer or contractual vacation time (for NSCC staff) to benefit their teaching. • Maximum of $475 per grant • Available to active NSTU members • Chosen by random draw

  3. Out-Of-Province Conference Grants • $9,000 annually. • Used to support teachers wishing to attend conferences for the purpose of professional development. • Maximum of $475 per grant • Available to active NSTU members • Only for conferences held between September 1 and June 30 • Vetted on a four category rubric by the PD Committee.

  4. Full-Time Study Grants • $10,000 budgeted annually • Support to teachers wishing to follow a full-time program of studies for professional development. • Five grants of $2,000 per year. • Available to active NSTU members. • Vetted on a 4 category rubric by the PD Committee.

  5. Education Research Awards • $3,500 budgeted annually • To encourage and assist education research • Maximum of $475 per grant • Available to active NSTU members • Vetted on a 3 category rubric by the PD Committee.

  6. Project Development Assistance Fund • Established in the Teacher’s Provincial Agreement • Annual sum of $200,000 • To encourage innovative and unique program development in Nova Scotia schools, directly related to the Public School Program. • Vetted on a seven category rubric by a the PDAF Committee.

  7. Project Overseas • Sponsored by Canadian Teachers’ Federation and its Members. • To give professional assistance to teachers in developing countries. • Applications are vetted on a 6 category rubric by the NSTU.

  8. Sheonoroil • Sheonoroil Foundation funds school and campus based projects and research directed at reducing violence in schools and community college campuses. • Funds projects upwards to and sometimes over $2,000. • Vetted on a 5 point rubric by a Committee of the Sheonoroil Board.
