WELCOME TO ROOM 31 Ms. Crawford’s Science Class!. Topics in science. Next Generation Science Standards Amplify Curriculum online and workbook for each unit Mix of Earth Science, Life Science and Physical Science
E N D
Topics in science • Next Generation Science Standards • Amplify Curriculum online and workbook for each unit • Mix of Earth Science, Life Science and Physical Science • Students will learn how cells, people, and Earth are made up of many systems. • They will also explore how weather results from interactions among Earth systems while climate influences plants and animals in a particular area. Finally, students will explore human impact on climate change. • We will also have investigations and experimentation throughout our units of study.
homework • Students will have assignments that are assigned regularly. • Homework is an extension of any unfinished class work. Anything that we have done in class that was not finished during the period is considered homework, unless I have said otherwise at the end of class. All class work and homework will be posted on Google Classroom on a daily basis. This is a great resource if your child is absent or if you want to check that your child is accurately using their agenda.
Late work • If students do not complete work when it was originally due, they will stay in during tutorial/lunch to get their assignments done.
absences • Missed assignments should be completed in a timely manner to keep up with the subject matter being studied. Students are allowed one day for each day of school that was missed to complete an assignment. For example, if a student misses two days of school, they have two days to turn in the missed assignment. Any assignment not completed will result in a zero. If a student is aware that they will be absent ahead of time, I will make every effort to get work together for them ahead of time.
Levels of understanding LEVEL 4 – I got this! NAILED IT!! • Shows mastery of learning target • Answer is correct and complete • Details/definitions show thorough understanding of learning target • Appropriate science vocabulary is used LEVEL 3 - I get it! · • Shows mastery of learning target • Details/definitions are inaccurate/incomplete • All parts of the prompt are attempted/completed LEVEL 2 –I’m almost there! • Answer shows partial understanding of learning target • Details/definitions are incomplete • All significant parts of the prompt were attempted LEVEL 1 - I’m still learning! • Answer is incorrect or work is incomplete • Only basic/limited knowledge of learning target LEVEL O – Not yet.. • No answer shown and/or answer did not match the situation • No knowledge of learning target was demonstrated
grading • 90 % Assessments and 10% Assignments • Students are graded based on their most current level of understanding of each learning target. Every learning target will be graded on the 4 point Level of Understanding Rubric. • Check grades on Parent Portal Grading Scale • Grade Scale Letter Grade Infinite Campus • 3.6 to 4.0 A 90 % to 100% • 3.4 to <3.6 A- 85% to < 90% • 3.2 to <3.4 B+ 80% to < 85% • 3.0 to <3.2 B 75% to <80% • 2.8 to <3.0 B- 70% to <75% • 2.5 to <2.8 C+ 65% to <70% • 2.2 to <2.5 C 55% to <65% • 2.0 to <2.2 C- 50% to <55% • 1.7 to <2.0 D 42.5% to <50%
