Community Driven IPv6 Initiatives inAfriNIC African IPv6 Task Force For the past year the IPv6 Program in AfriNIC has been brainstorming with the African community on the IPv6 mailing list and at the face to face meetings on the establishment of a Regional Task Force that is mandated to encourage and help with the uptake of IPv6 in the African Region. AfriNIC has volunteered to do the secretariat work and hosting services for the Task Force. Page 12 Page 12

AFOPs day atAfriNIC-16 • AfriNIC is Partnering with ISOC (Internet Society) to co-organize an full day for African Operators during the AfriNIC -16 meeting in Gambia. • The day will be divided into two half day vital topics for African Operators: • IPv6 (AF6TF) • Interconnection and Peering (ISOC-ITE) First Meeting 16 of May 2012 Page 15 Page 15

African IPv6 DocumentationinAfriNIC • AfriNIC is working on documenting IPv6 experiences and initiatives through the region • Working with Countries to document their roadmaps and plans. • Working with Major ISPs in Africa such as Sonatel (Senegal) and Emtel (Mauritius) to document their experiences. • Working on a 2 year IPv6 documentation initiative with the European Commission on IPv6 deployment world wide. • Talking with the African Union to do an African IPv6 documentation initiative.
