Acute Multifocal Pigment Epithelium Epitheliopathy (AMPEE) AMPPPE starts as rapidly progressive visual loss in both eyes. Usually there is a gray-white subretinal lesion in the pigment epithelium. Although the cause of this condition is thought to be a viral or flu-like, the actual organism is unknown. The prognosis is generally good with return of visual acuity. There may be long standing pigmentary changes in the retina. (B) Here we have outlined the area of the sub-retinal lesion in the pigment epithelium so that you can seewhere the abnormality is.
