The boat comes from mainland Shetland three times a week in summer. From May to September it arrives on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. For hundreds of years the women on Fair Isle were kept busy knitting and trading their home made textiles with passing ships. They exchanged their knitting for things they couldn’t make themselves.
