  2. Recap • Naming: The importance for data correlation between distributed information systems was underlined during the AB-LTC Review (Nov 2003). A naming scheme needed to be defined and supported. • Syntax: formal rules for the use, order and arrangement of symbols • LHC-C-QA-0001 rev.1.0(July 2004) • Semantics: meaning of the symbols, usage of the codes • LHC-C-QA-0002 rev.1.0(July 2004) • Scope: All controls accessible components (entities) and their pieces of information (parameters) in the LHC • Progress: iterative discussions for LHC systems to apply the rules to implement the respective systems • QPS (K. Dahlerup-Petersen, R. Denz, A. Hilaire, H. Milcent) • Interlock loops (M. Zerlauth, J. Marienthoz, B. Puccio) • Power Converters (S. Page) AB/CO TC : Post-Mortem

  3. General naming scheme <LHC entity>:<quantity code> For example:STATUSVOLTAGETEMPERATURE <LHC entity code>.<location>.<function> 99% For example:LHC half cellCERN worksPowering subsector To specify in more detail the entity, if necessary An “occurrence” may slip in to guarantee uniqueness of the entity <LHC equipment code> https://edms.cern.ch/cedar/plsql/codes.systems AB/CO TC : Post-Mortem

  4. Signal names in practice Have been logged during hardware commissioning heat runs AB/CO TC : Post-Mortem

  5. A few things to note • The signal naming database is intended to give support in comprehension of the signals:Portal : http://cern.ch/service-acc-naming • These signal names are the signal identifiers in Post-Mortem data (SDDS files), the Supervision systems, the Measurement service and the Logging service. • The correspondence in the Alarm service is less obvious • The naming scheme covers the signal names and the LHC entities to which they logically belong • The naming scheme does not cover the names of software objects ( e.g. FESA devices, properties) AB/CO TC : Post-Mortem
