5 Things You Need to Know To Get Started Gayle Underwood Technology Integration Consultant Allegan AESA
What is Atomic Learning? • AL is a website that offers thousands of short video tutorials on common software programs and computer tasks. (Microsoft Office products, iPad, Windows 8, etc…) • Because it is online, is available 24/7. • AAESA has purchased a subscription and you may be expected to learn how to use certain software programs from the AL tutorials. • It’s very easy to use!
5 Things you need to know to get you started: • How to ‘Log in’ • How to ‘search’ for tutorials • Where to find assigned ‘Trainings’ • How to save ‘Favorites’ so you can go back to them later • How to see your progress in ‘Reports’
Log in Go to www.atomiclearning.com Username: <your email address> Password: Alleganaesa
Search • Enter a keyword into the search box and click on search. • For example, Type ‘Windows 8’ and press the Enter key. • You will see a list of Series Titles that have multiple short video clips. The Windows 8 Training has 47 tutorials for a total of 1 hour 18 minutes of videos. • If you don’t know what something is…click on it to find out more!
Trainings • From time to time we will assign or recommend trainings • They will automatically be found in the ‘My Training’ tab under ‘Assigned Trainings’ or ‘Recommended Trainings’ • Once you watch all of the trainings you will earn a certificate and receive instructions via email on how to view/print the certificate. • The ePortfolio in My Trainings is a way to show what you’ve learned from watching the videos. You can upload files that you created that demonstrate your learning.
Favorites • Make sure you use the Favorites option to mark videos that you want to come back to at a later time. • For example, while scrolling through the list of 47 videos for Windows 8 you see one titled “Customizing Tiles on the Start Screen” • Mark that video a favorite by clicking on the star to the right of length of the video. • You can continue skimming the list and adding more ‘favorites’. • All of your favorites are kept in one easy to find place (Favorites tab) so you don’t have to search through all the videos again.
Reports You are going to want to see your progress through out the year. Click on ‘My Profile’ then ‘Reports’ to see proof of what you have done with AtomicLearning. The reports are: • Overview • Detailed Activities • Progress on Assignments • Progress on Series • Certificates
