Traffic Signs • If a vehicle is higher than the dimensions shown on a circular traffic sign, the driver must stop and must not pass the sign • If the vehicle is higher than the dimensions shown on a triangular traffic sign at the bridge, the driver should not pass the sign

Driver Survey • 37% of drivers indicated that they would take a course of action that would allow for trains to be promptly stopped and for the bridges to be inspected • 41% of drivers suggested that they would take an inappropriate action such as; • Contacting their employer first and have them contact the owner of the bridge or the highways agency • Some drivers would check that their passengers were ok, if they were injured or shocked they would call an ambulance, the police and the fire service as the bridge may be structurally unsound. Then they would contact their employer! • WORST OF ALL; Some vehicle operators actively urge their employees to contact them first!
