  2. The Mentor Riyaz Momin • Graduated from The University of Texas Austin McCombs School of Business in 2010 • Investing since 2009 • Working on a career in Brokering stocks

  3. The Site • Currently work at rented office space in Downtown Houston • Three Allen Center • Plans to have his own location open by September 2016

  4. Project Topic • To analyze stock market fluctuations over the 2nd Quarter of various companies • Specifically will address causes of price fluctuations in regards to company development, competition, legislation, and market trends

  5. Stock Brokers • Buy and sell stocks for clients in return for a fee or commission • Can have various professional designations based on licenses they hold and services they provide

  6. Stock Market Basics • Stock = piece of the company • Shareholder • First sale of stock is an IPO or Initial Public Offering • Issuing stock is equity financing • NYSE open from 8:30 AM- 3:00 PM Monday-Friday

  7. Market Indexes • Dow Jones Industrial Average • Tracks 30 major companies mainly found on the New York Stock Exchange • Nasdaq Composite Index • Tracks 4,000 stocks all from the Nasdaq (National Association of Securities Dealers Automated Quotations) exchange

  8. Risk • No guarantees in investing • Commonly understood that the greater the risk the greater potential return • Over the long-term stocks have a 10-12% return

  9. Our Analysis • Looked at 2 different companies • Technology- Apple • Energy- Exxon Mobil • Research findings: • “Technology and energy investments are the safest industries in the stock market”

  10. Apple Co. Overview • Common stock • Software (Macintosh and iOS) • Hardware (iPhone, iPad, Macbooks, etc.) • Considered “leading innovators” in many tech spaces but especially in regards to cellular communication
