Ongoing evolutions:

This ongoing evolution entails GEONETCast collaborating with GEOSS Data Discovery and Access Broker (DAB) to enable offline search and discovery of GEOSS resources on GEONETCast channels, along with transmitting GEO.DAB, client application, and database updates. The aim is to finalize application software, implement routine database flow between GEO-DAB and GNCs, and start pilot services. Additionally, the Disaster Channel distributes alert data, focusing on volcanic ash and wildfires, with plans to expand dissemination to include historical Charter activations. The evolution aims to order content by activation type and chronological order, transmitting regularly, and notifying users via Twitter and UNS, receiving positive feedback from the GIS community in Africa. Future steps involve interfacing with the Charter website and developing a technical concept.

Ongoing evolutions: GEO-DAB • GEONETCast Team has teamed up with GEOSS Data Discovery and Access Broker (DAB) to allow search and discovery of GEOSS resources in off-line mode on GEONETCast channels • GEO DAB will be transmitted along with a client application and database • Updates will be sent periodically

Ongoing evolutions: GEO-DAB • Prototype demonstrated at the GEONETCast booth during GEO-X • Next steps: • CNR to finalise their application software • Implementation of a routine flow of database contents between GEO-DAB and GEONETCast Network Centres (GNCs) • Start of pilot service with one or more GNCs.

  6. Ongoing evolutions: GEONETCast Disaster Channel • Operated by GEONETCast partners to distribute ‘alert’ type data • In EUMETSAT’s case, this is products in CAP format • Currently, Volcanic Ash and Wildfires – product is only generated if there is an alert.

Ongoing evolutions: Charter Product Dissemination • Further develop the ‘Disaster Channel’ concept by routinely distributing a subset of what is currently available on the Charter web-site • This would include historical and running Charter activations • Purpose would be to familiarise Users, train Users, and the promote the Charter within the GEONETCast User community.
