The Piezoelectric Effect The piezoelectric effect describes the relation between a mechanical stress and an electrical voltage in some materials (notably crystals and certain ceramics)
Piezoelectric Ceramic Transformer The Piezoelectric Ceramic Transformer (PCT) is made of a piezoelectric ceramic plate, which acts as a resonator when stimulated at the right frequencies. The frequencies used are above the audible range, typically about 35 KHz or 70 KHz. At one end of the plate, the input AC voltage is converted to mechanical strain using the converse piezoelectric effect. At the other end of the plate, the resultant strain is converted back to an electric field using the piezoelectric effect.
