  2. Maharishi ValmikiJayanti Indian Festival Essay ValmikiJayantiis an Indian festival for Hindus. He was the first poet of Sanskrit Literature named as MaharshiValmiki. He is also known as AdiKavi which means the first poet. Valmiki religious group celebrate this festival and known as PargatDiwas. He was the first poet who wrote the epic story “Ramayana” and he was one of the great saints in ancient times. Saint Valmiki always encouraged humans to fight against the social injustice. According to Hindu calendar, ValmikiJayanti falls on Poornima (full moon day) of Ashwin month.

They were the first who learned the Ramayana and began singing. They lived in their ashram along with their mother Sita.  (Lord Rama’s wife). The biggest temple of RishiValmiki ‘The MaharshiValmiki Temple’ is in Thiruvanmiyur in Chennai. It is located on the East Coast Road named as Valmiki Nagar. He belongs to the great dynasty of Raghu and was the tenth son of the sage Prachetas. On this day people make portraits and carry throughout the streets in villages and towns.
