USSOCOM Mission USSOCOM Plans, Directs and executes Special Operations in the conduct of the Global War on terrorism in order to disrupt, defeat and destroy terrorist networks that threaten the United States, its citizens and interests worldwide. USSOCOM organizes, trains, and equips special operations forces provided to geographic Combatant Commanders, American Ambassadors and their Country Teams.

Requirements Management • Process Oriented Duty encompassing two phases (Collection & Production) of the Intelligence Cycle • Involves the sources of five other intelligence disciplines (HUMINT, IMINT, SIGINT, MASINT, TECHINT)

The Value of OSINT “OSINT as the source of first resort” : - Provides foundation and context for analysts that can be fused with collateral information - Can meet 80% of intelligence information needs - OSINT can serve in an Indications & Warning capacity (intentions and capabilities) - OSINT is a combination of other intelligence disciplines - OSINT can be used to vet classified single-source data THE “BIG” PROBLEM : OTHER INTS ARE “FREE”…OSINT IS NOT!
