Tips for Giving an Effective Persuasive Speech… Use persuasion realistically. Don’t ask for radical changes if an audience isn’t likely to support your proposals. Adapt your request for change to your audience’s ability to change. Use evidence fairly and strategically to strengthen your arguments and increase your chances for audience support. Address complex issues with two-sided messages and counterarguments so you can refute opposing positions and appear more credible to your audience
